Mary Jo StandardMiddle School Program Coordinator
Mary Jo (MJ) came to Durango in 2012 after she and four friends pointed to the map and decided Durango was cool and had a great folk and bluegrass scene. After one fun and rowdy winter in Durango, she moved to Cortez when her husband got a job with Osprey. After growing up outside D.C., and going to school in Pittsburgh, the wide open spaces of southwest Colorado have been the perfect change!
Mary Jo started working with youth while in college through Girls on the Run, and teaching youth outdoor skills at Philmont Scout Ranch. After moving to Durango, she started working in the school districts and Osprey, until she very happily landed at SCYC. Her favorite activities include: running, backpacking, climbing, fishing, reading, and spending time with her husband, two little girls, and two crazy dogs.
