Angela joined the Cortez family in 2014 after a long and winding path over five continents. Starting her career in the Peace Corps in the Sahara Desert, celebrating Earth Day with youth in Latin America, researching subsistence farming in Mali, grappling with Tuberculosis in Tibetan refugee camps, preventing HIV/AIDS in Rwanda, and finally imagining health policy in Flagstaff, Angela is happy to settle down and plant a garden. A native of Arizona, she earned two Master’s degrees, one in Public Health and another in Resource Management. Dedicated to increasing opportunities for unheard populations and building on the positive, Angela was excited to join SCYC in the summer of 2015. She hopes to guide the organization with youth input and encourage youth-adult partnerships in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
