2012/2013’s service project was a challenge for residents of Montezuma and Dolores counties to shop locally and earn rewards for doing so. People were able to participate in the project by obtaining a Green Scheme ‘punch card’ from participating stores. Each qualifying purchase was recorded on the card, for up to 10 purchases. On the 10th purchase, they received a discount from that store. The students decided on this project to address the theme of environmental responsibility and reducing our carbon footprint, and rolled the project out on Earthy Day 2013.
